Squirrel on the South Grounds

This photograph of the South Lawn was taken in May 1966, during the Lyndon B. Johnson administration. In the background is a fountain surrounded by flowers. A squirrel is seen running across the driveway in the foreground. Substantial ornamental gardening was introduced to the White House gardens by John Quincy Adams, and now flowers bloom throughout the grounds.
